Total sofa length should stay under 280cm if you want a coffee table and clear passage behind. Go longer and you'll find yourself squeezing past the sofa to reach the balcony or the bedroom corridor.

L-shape sofas work well in 4-room living rooms when you position the chaise against the side wall rather than floating it into the room. A 260cm × 160cm L-shape sits comfortably in most 4-room configurations, provides generous seating for a family of four, and doesn't crowd the television wall.

Queen bed or King bed?

A King bed — 180cm × 190cm — fits in most 4-room master bedrooms, but the passage on either side drops to around 45-55cm, which is workable but noticeably tighter.

If you have a wardrobe along the wall facing the foot of the bed, that foot-of-bed clearance also matters: aim for at least 80cm between the bed end and the wardrobe face, which is the minimum comfortable opening distance for most sliding and hinged wardrobe doors.
